Paul Knight “retires” from EVCNB

EVCNB says a sad but grateful goodbye to Paul Knight as he and his wife Betsy move away from our area. For some time, Paul has been a key leader for emergency preparedness in Wheeler and he was the leader of the Wheeler Emergency Team for many years. Paul has represented Wheeler as the cluster leader for the Prepare Your Neighborhood program at EVCNB and he was a key person on the GoBag team for EVCNB, as well as Emergency Communications. Paul has been an effective advocate for the specific needs of Wheeler in terms of its topography, aging population, lower income citizens, and the presence of the Nehalem Bay Health Center.

Paul has also been a critical part of the Yellow Radio and Ham Radio Leadership teams and has served as Yellow Radio Lead for Wheeler (Zone 8) for many years. Paul assisted his wife Betsy as the initial Lead for the Prepare Your Neighborhood program as that program was first being organized, and both have served on the EVCNB Board of Directors.

Kris Campbell, Community Preparedness Division Director enthusiastically talks about Paul’s contributions.  “I am honored to have worked with Paul, and was very impressed when I visited Wheeler this summer to look at one of their gathering sites and their emergency supplies.  The engagement of the citizens, the set-up of supplies and their emergency communications system is incredible for such a small town” says Kris.
